How will the VNS Health Nurse Residency
Program Support and Prepare You?

You will receive compensation while you complete the program as a full-time employee. Residency combines in-depth classroom instruction (in-person and virtual) from educators, hands-on clinical home care experiences in the field under the supervision of a preceptor, and guidance and mentorship from nurse educators and program managers. Our Residency program will equip you with all the tools you'll need to build a career in home care nursing.

You will:

  • Hone your clinical skills and learn to provide evidence-based care including assessment, care planning, and evaluation of patient’s needs.
  • Receive mentoring by seasoned professionals from various disciplines
  • Learn about your role in promoting quality and safety outcomes in patient care
  • Participate in individual and team member professional development
  • Build decision-making and leadership skills
  • Cultivate autonomy in practice as you advance from novice to expert clinician

Our robust curriculum guides you to attain competency within 6 months.

You will then graduate from the program and continue to work as a full-time RN with VNS Health.

Although you will be independent, we will continue to support your skill development over the next 18 months.
